SOCIAL SECURITY PAYEE
The Chapter is appointed by the Social Security Administration to act as Payee (manage Social Security funds) for individuals who receive Social Security Income/Disability/Retirement. The Chapter is required to follow this agency’s rules for handling client funds. Social Security requires annual reports and a random audit every 3 years.
CONSERVATOR
The Chapter is appointed by the court to act as conservator for individuals who the court has found to be incapacitated. The conservator is responsible for the individual assets. The Chapter is required to file annual reports with the court.
VA FIDUCIARY
The Chapter is appointed by the Veteran’s Administration to act as VA Fiduciary (manage VA benefits). The Chapter is required to follow this agency’s rules for handling client funds. VA requires annual reports on any client we take a fee for service from; or, as requested.
PERSONAL REPRESENTATIVE
The Chapter is appointed by the court to act as the Personal Representative in a probate. Probates are expected to be opened in court 45 days after a client’s death if the value of the estate is over $100,000 per current State statutes.
TRUSTEE
The Chapter is appointed by the court, by a Last Will & Testament, or individually to act as Trustee (manage trust assets) in a variety of trusts. For example, Special Needs Trust, Supplemental Needs Trusts, pooled trusts, revocable and irrevocable trusts. Medicaid qualifying trusts must be reviewed and approved by Medicaid and Social Security. The trust document will determine whether a report is provided to the beneficiary, trust protector or the court.
GUARDIAN
The Chapter is appointed by the court to act as guardian for individuals who have been deemed incapacitated by the court. The guardian is expected to protect the best interest of the ward. The Chapter will participate in a co-guardian role if the court deems it appropriate. The Chapter is required to file annual reports with the court.
CASE MANAGEMENT
The Chapter can provide case management services for existing clients when requested. Some examples of these services: transporting able bodied clients to appointments, shopping/errands, otherwise we run those errands for them; assist with shopping on-line; assist with renewing or applying for public benefit resources; explore housing options; move clients to new housing; routine visits/check-ins.
